About Amy Lantz

Today’s Top Story:
Hello! My name is Amy Lantz, and I will be the 8th grade ELA and Civics teacher. I have been teaching all components of Language Arts, reading, writing and vocabulary (just to name a few…) for the past 18 years. Teaching this subject to middle school students brings joy to my heart. I plan to engage your child and successfully challenge ‘our’ students to achieve and believe in themselves. I am thrilled also to bring Civics to life for these kiddos. I look forward to meeting you and the students and have an incredible year!

Work Experience

I am a twice Highly Qualified teacher in the areas of K-8 as well as Language Arts.
*Differentiating Learning training
*Step Up to Writing training
*Structured English Immersion training
*Strengthening Instruction for Gifted Students training

The best thing about teaching: As a teacher, the satisfaction I get from being able to educate students and see them make something of themselves. Helping to equip them with the tools necessary to take on the world!
By constantly recognizing and reinforcing their efforts to learn, I can have a positive impact on the way they identify as learners.
I also love when the entire class breaks in to spontaneous laughter about something we are discussing!

Some of my favorite things:

  • Color: Orange and Grey
  • Food: Potatoes in any fashion
  • Book: Pillars of the Earth
  • Subject: Language Arts!
  • Hobby: Reading
  • Sports Team: Hiking

If I wasn’t a teacher, I would be: An archaeologist

Why did you choose to become a teacher?
I knew I wanted to work with children in some capacity–in college, I wasn’t sure what that capacity might be- until I stepped foot in a classroom. That was all it took for me to become a dedicated teacher. The energy and thrill has never left me!
Teaching to me is not just about educating students, but also guiding and nurturing them as they discover natural abilities and interests. I take pride in being a role model in this phase of their lives.
